STEP to Work is a programme for students who would benefit from a more Work-Related Curriculum.  It enables Key Stage 4 students to enhance their learning by undertaking structured work placements over an extended period. This is normally for 1-3 days per week for an academic year, or within an agreed alternative period.

Benefits to students

  • Development of key skills;
  • Experience in chosen career area;
  • Increased confidence & self-esteem;
  • Learn new technical skills;
  • Preparation for employment;
  • Possible future employment opportunity.

Feedback from our customers

"This has been an excellent programme and without it I would certainly have been excluded from school.  It pointed me in the right direction and I have gained an offer of employment."
Student, Burscough Priory High School

"We have seen a noticeable maturity in his attitude to school and work.  This has certainly proved invaluable for him."
Teacher, Christ the King High School, Preston
