24/08/2010 Chorley student builds a successful future

A young student from Chorley has secured top marks in a Construction Diploma at the Eric Wright Learning Foundation in Leyland. Tom Scott, 16, from Albany Science College, was one of two students who secured a distinction in their BTEC First Diploma in Construction, with a further ten students securing merits.

Lancashire Education Business Partnership has recently undergone an operational merger and joined forces with CXL, a social business who aim to help people move forward in work and life and help employers develop their staff.

13/07/2010 EXPO 2010

EXPO 2010 took place on 27 & 28 January and was probably one of the most ambitious projects Lancashire Education Business Partnership has ever undertaken. EXPO 2010, staged at Accrington & Rossendale College, was an Information, Advice and Guidance event for over 2500 students from across the Rossendale, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley regions.

13/07/2010 In the Spotlight: Karen O'Donoghue- New Joint Chief Executive

Karen O’Donoghue has recently been appointed as Joint Chief Executive of Lancashire Education Business Partnership and CXL, following the operational merger. Karen was Managing Director of CXL since 2007 and prior to that was Chief Executive of CareerLink/Connexions Lancashire.

Young people from across Lancashire have been crowned ‘Young Chefs of the Year 2010’ at a special grand final event held at Blackpool and Fylde College.

The two Year 11 students from Larches House School in Ashton on Ribble have been on work placements every Thursday for the last 9 months at Larches and Savick Amateur Boxing Club, under the watchful eye of Coach Joseph Kilshaw.

20/04/2010 Egg Descent Challenge Final

On Wednesday 31st March, teams of pupils from three Blackpool Primary Schools (Devonshire Primary School, Norbreck Primary School and St. John Vianney’s Catholic Primary School) and three Blackpool High Schools (Collegiate High School, Montgomery High School and Palatine Community Sports College) attended the final of the Egg Descent Challenge at Blackpool Sports Centre.

30/03/2010 Ogden Trust Master-classes

During November, December and January, Lancashire Education Business Partnership delivered a series of 5, one hour after school Masterclasses in each of 5 Bury Ogden Trust Partnership Schools (Woodhey High School, Bury Grammar (Boys), Bury Grammar (Girls), Castlebrook High School and Derby High School).

30/03/2010 Bright Sparks 2010

Between September and March, Lancashire Education Business Partnership, working in collaboration with United Utilities, delivered 22 Bright Sparks Days to over 600 Year 5 and 6 pupils, principally to the feeder Primary Schools of Ribblesdale and St Augustine’s Roman Catholic High Schools.

30/03/2010 Central Lancaster High School (Tetrahedron / FunMaths)

On Wednesday 3rd March (World Maths Day), Lancashire Education Business Partnership attended Central Lancaster High School to deliver the Giant Tetrahedron activity and a FunMaths session to forty year 11 students as part of a special maths themed week.

30/03/2010 After School Science and Engineering Club (ASSEC) Celebration Days

Lancashire Education Business Partnership supported ASSEC Celebration Days at Priory Sports and Technology College, Preston on Friday 5th March 2010 and Manchester Creative and Media Academy (Girls), Manchester on Wednesday 17th March 2010 by delivering a competitive Tsunami Relief Challenge.

26/03/2010 Millfield Enterprise Day

An enterprise day where year 10 students will form companies to create an advert to promote their school, with a judging session where the winner will film the advert for real and have it previewed on LEBP’s website. The event encourages entrepreneurial skills, team work, creativity and meeting deadlines.

24/03/2010 Frenchwood Community Primary School host a Primary Engineering Enterprise Challenge for year 4 and 5 students.

On Wednesday 24th March, 60 students from six local primary schools came together to take part in an Enterprise Challenge.

18/03/2010 Mount Carmel students learn about careers in construction

Year 9 students from Mount Carmel RC High School took part in an Elevate Construction workshop on the 18th March.

On the 15th and 16th March feeder primary schools visited Accrington Academy to take part in workshops delivered by Lancashire Education Business Partnership.

Our Ladys Catholic High School requested a STEM activity day for their Year 8 students.

04/03/2010 Seven local schools come together to celebrate Science & Engineering at Ripley St Thomas, Lancaster.

An event was held at Ripley St Thomas which brought seven local primary and secondary schools together to celebrate After School Science and Engineering Clubs (ASSECs).

09/02/2010 Ripley St Thomas High School, U CAN DAY 09/02/10

On the 09th of February the whole of year 8 took part in a ‘U Can Day’. The day focused on careers and challenging gender stereotypes in the work place.

08/02/2010 Heybrook Primary School, Maths and Enterprise Days 08 Feb and 12 Feb 2010

On the 08th of February, years 1, 2, 3 and 5 took part in a full day of Maths activities, which included building a Giant Tetrahedron, K’nex Tall towers and number games.

Lancashire Education Business Partnership is working in conjunction with Elevate East Lancashire to deliver a series of workshops in schools, aiming to inspire young people to consider Construction as a career choice.
