Lancashire Young Chef Competition 2010

Lancashire Education Business Partnership is once again pleased to announce the 2009/2010 Lancashire Young Chef Competition for all High Schools within Lancashire.

The aim of the Lancashire Young Chef Competition is to develop young people’s understanding of food, nutrition, and the hospitality industry. Throughout the competition students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, practice their culinary skills and build relationships between their school, local colleges and industry partners.

The Lancashire Young Chef Competition is open to any team of two students (designated Chef and Assistant Chef) from a Lancashire High School and is split into two age groups:
Group One – Key Stage 3 11 – 14 years
Group Two – Key Stage 4 14 – 16 years

Winners of the Area Heats will go through to the Lancashire Young Chef Grand Final. Four teams will go through to the Grand Final at each Key Stage.

The Grand Final will be held at Blackpool & the Fylde College on the 26th April 2010.

Key Stage 3 Finalists- Hodgson School, Georgie Weir and Alice Ormrod

Key Stage 3 Finalists- Lathom High School

Key Stage 3 Finalists- Accrington Academy, Dylan Shepherd and Nicholas Martin

Key Stage 3 Finalists - Priory Sports and Technology College

Key Stage 4 Finalists - St Aidan’s CoE Technology College

Key Stage 4 Finalists- Accrington Academy, Jake Allen and Liam Martin

Key Stage 4 Finalists- Priory Sports & Technology College

Key Stage 4 Finalists- Our Ladys Catholic College, Lancaster, Natasha Hawley and Charlotte Brom.

ACCRINGTON & ROSSENDALE WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED!!!!

On the 10th and 17th March teams competed in the final area heats of the year.

Haslingden High School
Accrington Academy
Rhyddings Business & Enterprise School

PRESTON AREA HEAT WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED!!!!!!

On Wednesday the 3rd March 2010 the second Area Heat was held as Runshaw College.

Teams competing included:
Priory Sports & Technology College
Westholme School
Hutton Grammar
Lathom High School


Key Stage 3 Finalists- Lathom High School

Key Stage 4 Finalists- Priory Sports & Technology College

BLACKPOOL AREA HEAT WINNERS ARE ANOUNCED!!!!!

On Tuesday 23rd February 2010 this year’s first Area Heat was held at Blackpool & the Fylde College.

Teams competing included:
Collegiate High School
St Aidans C E Technology College
Hodgson School
Our Ladys Catholic College, Lancaster

Key Stage 3 Finalists- Hodgson School, Georgie Weir and Alice Ormrod

Key Stage 4 Finalists- Our Ladys Catholic College, Lancaster, Natasha Hawley and Charlotte Brom.

Also going through to the final as runners up are

A big well done goes out to all teams who entered. Thank you also to teachers for organising the competition in school and Blackpool & the Fylde college, Runshaw college and Accrington & Rossendale college for their top notch hospitality.
