Construction Projects

Elevate East Lancashire is one of  9 Government Housing Market Renewal Pathfinders.  The project is aimed at improving the housing market in Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle and Rossendale.

 Elevate has been charged with finding innovative solutions to the problems of low demand, negative equity, and housing market collapse in towns across East Lancashire.  The project will last for approximately 10 to15 years and has funding of £95 million for the 2006 to 2008 period.  Elevate is working in partnership with a range of partners, h including local authorities to deliver an ambitious programme aimed at revitalising failing neighbourhoods. 

Lancashire Education Business Partnership (LEBP) is working in partnership with Elevate to raise the profile of and promote careers in construction in schools across East Lancashire.  One initiative is a programme of free workshops for Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils in schools from April 2007 to March 2008.  Pupils who have expressed an interest in a career in construction, and those who have not yet decided which career path they would like to follow are invited to attend.  During the workshop a representative from the construction and building industry will do a short presentation that gives a realistic, positive and informative overview of the wide range of career opportunities available in construction.  Depending on the time available, a short task construction related task can be completed. 

LEBP are grateful to those employers who are already giving their time to support this important initiative and are seeking new employers who would like to become involved. In addition, we would welcome enquiries from schools in the target areas who would like a FREE Elevate Construction Workshop.
